Select exactly half of the body

I am sculpting a character, and I want edit an area in the near from the middle of the x-axis. But this area is not good to see, also I want select and hide the left half of the body first (with Ctrl+shift alt in front view). After the editing I want recreate the symmetrie with the button “Deformation->Smart ReSym”. The condition is, I must select exactly the left half of the body for hiding, otherwise the “Smart ReSym” does not works correctly.

How can I select exactly the left half body along the y-axis?

You can use the square selection brush, just be sure to deactivate symmetry before you make your selection.
The curve selection will also do the job. Remember that you can reposition the selection if you hold the spacebar.

Ahhh, ok. That i can move the selection with the space bar I did not know it. Thank you HeavyBlazeNight.

Sure :D.

You can also mask the half of your model that you don’t want affected by the Smart Resym. The masked half will then be copied to the unmasked half.

For models without subdivision levels, Mirror and Weld can also be very useful. You can work on one half only, and then just mirror it across. In the picture, everything to the left of the axis will be mirror to the right. Anything on the right is deleted first, so you don’t have to have a perfect edge.

A possibility in this way I have searched. Thank you Marcus.
