searching for xyz coordinate reference tool/script

i wasn’t really sure what it would be called but i’ve been searching the forum and can’t seem to find it
i’m looking for a plugin/script/tool that displays on the screen what XYZ axis the user is currently on, and/or showing what will be selected if the user selects the symmetry tool. kinda something like 3dsmax has in the corner. yes yes i know, repeat the mantra, zbrush is a paint program it’s not 3d, zbrush is a paint program… but as a newb this is really confusing trying to do modeling using the symmetry & modifiers buttons. it takes trial & error every time i want to extrude something while mirrored

anyone see something like that around here?

thanks!

For 3D Tools you can view the orientation of the geometry through Tool > Preview > Object Preview window. The X axis goes from left to right, Y axis from top to bottom and the Z axis points towards you.

I seem to remember a script that can temporarily display the axis’ orientation but I cannot find it right now.

If you would like your imported models to be oriented a certain way you can set the Preferences > ImportExport switches to your liking. Remember to store the preferences afterwards (Ctrl + Shift + i).

thank you very much for that information TVeyes! that really really helps i didn’t know what the point of the preview window was. this makes things much much easier instead of trying to constantly guess which way the tool is facing

thanks,
