Hey Z-buds, this is a model of Sean Connery I’ve been working on using Lightwave, which I’m texturing in ZBrush. I’ve still got some tweaking to do, but what do ya reckon so far?

Bond, James Bond…that’s really good grub. lightwave, zbrush…you rule at 'em both. terrific work, and great resemblance. keep it up!
josh
doesnt matter to me what program this one comes out of or go into… the likeness is very well rounded.awesome image.
An excellent likeness of the younger Mr Connery - I’m sure he’d feel flattered.
Nice model Grub. I’m just learning to use Lightwave and always like to see ZBrush and Lightwave hybrid images.
Are you planning on making a bump map in ZBrush as well? What mapping method do you use for the head texture?
Visionary
Oh wow!..I mean! Man, Wow!
Beautiful job grub!
Nice to see you again too!
Nice one Grubster, ive been following your thread on CG talk, Great work
E
What a young 007
Pilou
Maybe the brushing a little plastering ?
Grub!
As always…perfection!
If I could do 1% as good I’d be a very a happy girl!
You nailed him Grub! 50.
Crisp, and true to character. Well done.
He was also a more convincing Bond character than that older guy who followed, you’ve recaptured one of the recognizable roles.
Nice job on the texturing as well, although the blend is a little too overall perfect on the skin. It looks drawn/painted 20’s poster style. Yikes, but the chin is great and those eyebrows are top notch.
I also think I remember he had darker, more olived skin in his movies.
That is an awesome Bond, Grub.

David
Excellent likeness and very SEXY!
Do something about his hair. Some grey maybe…
Fantastic!
well Rob, that is a right clicker for sure. Another one of yours to add to a growing collection. You captured his essence perfectionately. Now you know what would be kind of kewl from my perspective, would be to do a later years image of him…He has always been the epitomy of the suave man’s man. Outstanding rendering.
Hi Grub, it’s me again. I just had to look at this again. 50.
Hiya ZBrushers, thanks for your comments. I’ll reply to each of you…

Cheers, you’re very kind, Josh. But me, rule! There’s many talented artists here who can contest that, but I like to think there’s room for everyone to do their own thing, and shine in their own right.
dr. jjwow
Yeah, I agree with you, Dr JJ- for me, it’s not the package combo that matters, just the art… That said, I’d best say that the more Z there is in a piece, the better.
Flycatcher
Thank you, Bill. Yes, I am indeed doing a youngish Sean Connery, hope it does flatter him- although a lot of people reckon he looks better with age.
Visionary
Thanks. About the texturing-
I custom UV mapped the head in Lightwave, then imported a subdivided version into ZBrush for texturing with Texture Master. There’s actually already a basic bump map there on the model. It’s easy to make one in ZBrush, you just start with a mid grey base, then paint details that are to be raised in tints of white (such as spots), and concave areas (wrinkles, etc.) in shades of black. I’m currently experimenting with transparent layers, using an unwrapped wireframe template as a guide, for 2d texture painting.

Thanks for the welcome, MTB. I’m pleased to be posting back here once again.
Evoken
Hey Evoken, nice to hear you’ve been following my crazy thread over there.
Pilou
Heya, Frenchy. Haha, I might have known you’d drop in with a funky remark.
Vikki
Hi, it’s nice to see you again, Vikki. And you’re not that bad! If you keep bashing away, you’ll get there. Besides, you’ve done some charming pics.
50’sKID
Hey thanks for posting, 50. Twice is nice.
gummie
Thanks for the compliments and the constructive criticism. You’re right, I plan to work on the skin some more, and give him a better complexion.
zerobugetgamemaker
Hello David, I’m pleased you think so.
Belleski
Hiya, Belleski. Glad you like schexy Schean. I surely will try and sort the hair out, although I’m aiming for that younger Bond look.
Talos
Cheers, mate.
Ron
Hey, bud. Maybe I’ll have a crack at an older version of Connery for ya. In fact, if I can’t get the hair right, he’ll be going old and bald fast.
Looking great so far.
Looking forward to seeing the finished version.
Sean is always pant material ~G~ You did a very good job of him. Super work.
Thats really perfection Grub, I am certainly glad I looked in at the forum today, I would have hated to miss it. I can’t say I have seen a mesh model that is such a good likeness of the person it has set out to be. It proves that you get best results from putting time and effort into your work, and this image certainly confirms that.
