Sculptor required: Creating 90+ 3D head models of real people

Hi all,
Apologies if this is the wrong place to offer potential paid work to member of this forum. Please move it to a more appropriate board if necessary. I need help on a project I am working on.

I need to create 88 3D data mesh models, of human heads. These models need to resemble real people so my thoughts were to use a 3D scanning solution to achieve this. Eventually, each head will be 3D printed either directly, in color, or printed in a single color, then hand painted. Each head will measure approximately 22mm each.
It seems like there are various positives and negatives to the different scanning solutions on offer, and all require a degree of post processing.

We’d like to achieve the kind of finish that the guys at ToyZeroPlus are able to do, and they (from what I understand) merge face scans from the Fuel3D Scarify with predesigned standard head types. I’m not sure how many standard head types they have, but they seem to be able to offer several hair styles bask on the photos on their website…

My questions are as follows:

  1. in your experience, what would be the best scanning method to minimise additional post-processing/cleanup.
  2. Would the solution detailed above be a good option?
  3. I imagine basic face geometry and hair are quite important in creating a 3D model which resembles a real person. Do most 3D artists have access to many stock/basic face structures/hair styles that can easily put together?
  4. Is there anyone on this board who could potentially assist me in this project (for a fee, of course?)

Any help with the above questions would be greatly appreciated and please feel free to drop me a PM about the job if you are interested. Please include your email address and any other contact information.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

RakS.

Ten24 do some wonderful stuff with scanning. It seems that the best option is to have a rig that takes lots of photos, from different directions, but at the same time.

Other than that, not sure.

I’m sure there are lots of people where who could help you. Your main consideration should be their ability to achieve a likeness. In my experience, there is a world of difference between doing a good face, and doing a face that actually has a resemblance.

Hi Gordon, thanks for your reply.
Yes, I’m familiar with Ten24 and their system. That would certainly create a great digital model, but I think that, for something that will be printed just over 2cm high, and probably in a PLA/SLA in a single colour, a lot of that extra detail will become redundant. The hand painting will give the colour finish, so I wanted to scan with a simpler system, that could easily be transported to the scanning sessions.
As I mentioned, the finish achieved by ToyZeroPlus is more or less what I’m looking for. It doesn’t have to be super-detailed. Hopefully someone can be of assistance or point me in the right direction.

I was also considering the Artec Eva as a scanning tool. This seems more adept at scanning whole heads, but inevitably some cleanup would be required. Again, if anyone has experience of this, I’d appreciate it if you could share you experience/knowledge, and if anybody is potentially interested in working on this project, please PM me.

Thanks,

RakS

Pm’d you
