Eventually when I get good at ZBrush I would like to get into 3D Printing and try to start my own small business. I’d like to possibly sell 10 inch figurines or statues. So many give great advice and suggestions here. I thought I would bring this inquiry here. I actually contacted Marvel ( seriously ) to inquire what it takes to acquire a license to sell a statue of a Marvel character. Unfortunately, its not worth it for them to get involved with a small business. They told me they usually sign 2-3 year contracts at $100,000. This rep suggested to submit my work to a smaller company that already handles these kind of affairs.
The thing is, I see many, many artists producing sculptures / statues of Marvel and DC characters and selling them like this company for example > Not that Bowen is small but its a sculpting business. http://www.bowendesigns.com/company.aspx
I would love any suggestions and advice to guide me in the right direction. I’m being passionate and serious about my work and want to learn as much as possible. Thanks!
