sculpting a seam line around an object

I have been working on a lot of clothing lately, and am very new to Zbrush.

one of the most difficult things for me is creating a seam line around an arm sleeve or neck line which looks consistent. i have to let up my line and orbit around the object several times and the line ends up looking like crap.

any tricks for this type of thing?

thanks!

Try making a clean mask for the areas where the seams will be.
You can also do this by making the seams a seperate polygroup.
Then you can easily sculpt the seems or use the deformation palette.
Hope this helps…

i haven’t played with polygroups yet. i assume i could assign some poly selections in cinema 4d, and those might show up in zbrush? would that mean for something like a seam, i’d have to have the mesh really tight in the area where there is a seam?

so far my base models are super low rez.

thanks!

try using lazy mouse (hotkey L) it straightens the your currently drawn line

thanks. yeah i use lazymouse, but my problem is when i pick a stroke up, and then have to start again, and try to get the 2 strokes to match at the intersection. you know? very difficult

yeah, I know that one. store a morph target and use the layer brush, that way you can only sculpt one “layer” deep into the mesh, also use the morph brush to correct any mistakes (it will morph back the areas you brush to the morph target state)

good thinking. thanks!
