Retopo and Uv was done in maya, textures in adobe substance, High poly in zbrush. Render was done in Maya with Arnold and displacement map. Texture was 16 UDIMS in 4k. Concept was done by me.
The goal was to design a creature containing elements of human anatomy mixed with insects, crustaceans. The hardest part was creating a coherent whole.
The main theme was scorpions and prehistoric insects, but you can also see some inspirations from praying mantises or crabs.
Anatomically, Scorplis consists of two parts : front armored and back delicate leather abdomen which is the most sensitive part of the body and weakest point.
The front part consists of two hooked legs which it uses to grab prey. There are small legs of the praying mantis on the lower abdomen, which are used to hold the laid eggs.
Thanks to the retractable long tail over which he has full control, he can defend himself against predators and keep his balance while hunting or moving.
Neurotoxins in the tail and fangs make it one of the most dangerous predators.
The heart is located in the upper convex chamber the hardest part of the shell. The proboscis ending in venomous teeth is not its head but an extended esophagus. The brain is located under the heart in the shell.
The front wings are used to scare away other predators and from there they can shoot a corrosive substance at a distance.
With the help of air bags located behind the nostrils on the shell, it can make croaking sounds that are used for mating calls.
Skorplis inhabits both rocky regions, mainly caves and underground tunnels, but also desert regions, it can be found in the depths of tropical forests too.
It comes in many color variants, from pale ashens living in caves to full of colors in tropical.
