hi there! here`s my entry for the contest!

Title: “The Show Must Go On” (as every year…)

Idea: Count Dracula is getting older (of course) and he is feeling more miserable every year…
Its Halloween, again... and hes pretty fed up with everything and especially himself getting involved in tonights BIG show…

… to be honest… hes an old fart and just cant quit.

“The Show Must Go On” he tells himself, sits in front of the mirror to get dressed up… to scare the s**t out of everybody who`s still interested in some old vampire-fart like the Count!

i hope to make him look old and miserable (dressed in an old white undershirt…) , a glass of water with his dental prosthesis would be nice… hahaha!!! (render must be inside zbrush, i guess… so water and glass materials will be hard to come by…)

Character: Count Dracula as an old fart.
Probs: a mirror, some cosmetics… his dental prosthesis and cleaner box… lots of wrinkles…

… and some other stuff i can`t think of right now…

a concept-sketch will follow.

i hope to finish in time.

first pre-viz image done with xsi.

since raytracing is out of question, glass, water or a mirror won’t make it into my final product… too sad.

anyway, this image is ONLY for pre-viz. it’s one of two concept images i made. later, when i’m sure which set and setting i’ll use, i want to use only zbrush and photoshop. xsi will only be a last resort.

another idea for my poor old count.

after searching the net for some nice vampire images i stumbled across al lewis.
remember, the old munster granpa!! btw, he died last year. i thought he was great and his facial mimics are exacly the kind of “old-fart vampire”-gestures i would like to do… (or try to do…)

the theme will still be the same… " The Show Must Go On" - of course!

I think the other may be a liittle serious.

How about this: he is sat on the end of his bed. he is about to put his trousers on. He is sat there in boxer shorts with bats on them and he has sock suspenders on?

sock suspenders! yeah! that’s cool! instead of a bed, a coffin would do well…

thanks for the idea. oh, and of course it’s a little serious… that’s my biggest problem right now.

…“scared silly”… scared - now that should be easy with zbrush… but the silly part makes my head spin… i have to put a lot of body language into this… (never done before…) hmmm… comedy, right?

Perhaps too adult (I’m about to trigger the SPAM filters), but…

There’s an attractive girl climbing into Dracula’s coffin, obviously looking for the honor of being his next victim. Aged and decrepit, Dracula reaches absentmindedly for a giant boldly labeled “VIAGRA” bottle. He’s clearly not into this, but as they say, the show must go on.

It’s all body language here. Slouching pose, head propped “bored” in one hand while he reaches with his other, not looking at the girl or the bottle.

And for the big cartoony punchline, he’s missed his target and picked up a giant boldly labeled “GARLIC” bottle instead. What’s that even doing there? Wrong herbal supplement! Oh no!

…sorry.

The suspender-socks will get a bigger laugh. :lol:

Yeah like the socks and suspenders idea. What if his socks were those sort of gimmick socks you get for Christmas…or Halloween. Maybe have something like “I suck” or “keeping a cold heart warm at night”. Ok they’re pretty rubbish I’m sure you cold think of much better.

Nice idea! I like how you pre-viz in XSI. I agree that the tombstone pics look a bit somber compared to the toilet pic.

thanks so far for your positive feedback.
ill stick with toilet-scene... but right now im pretty busy finding the right expression for his face. the gesture is important too but i really want to make him look old and miserable and fed up…

Wow. I’m really looking forward to seeing this one. I like how you are going to portray him as older. You don’t see that very often.

ok,

finally back from the dead! i had some fun trying expressions with some help from a book. the works of f.x.messerschmidt are awesome! i got stuck in thinking of the counts expression. or if he`s naked or half-clothed.

brain: pinky? are you pondering what i am pondering?
pinky: of course brain!!! but i still don`t know where we find sooo big rubberpants!!!

Not even started on my toilet yet. I’ll have to make it in ZB as I have no other 3D app at the moment.
