scarecrow

i need help…

im having some real problems with this jacket. it was made with garment maker and then tweeked in zbrush, in fact the entire model has at some point or another ended up in zbrush.

anyway i need to make this jacket look more like a suit jacket. any suggestions? (i have no problem with making it from scratch.)

any tutorials on this sort of thing?

anyone?

looks like you just need to add a collar and some edge volume…
think about a real jacket, where it’s got thickness. You’d want to
have enough polygons there to sculpt that edging, so add them
in 3dsmax (extrude edges and basically ‘wrap’ them back to give
the impression of volume). Also, it never hurts to have a look at
what others do for clothing on their models (just saw someone’s
bust that had a jacket and tie…search the forum). Some even
show the wireframe and you can see their structure.

Anyhow, keep working on it! Your scarecrow is looking good so far.

thats the problem actually, i need to get the basic form and then its off to cloth modifier for animation.

i tried searching the net for some jacket patterns but i havent been able to find any i can use.

besides that is the other problem im having. the collar needs to be ridged. but when cloth is applied, it flaps out. so im thinking of modeling the collar as part of the jacket extruded (if that makes sense) so it cant flap out
