Say goodbye to Maya?

Just wondeing if anyone else has heard the news that Autodesk is going to buy out Alias?
Seems strange that a major company and top selling program like Alias would sell out to Autodesk. I read a story in 3D World mag that reps from Autodesk assured owners of Alias-Maya that they would continue with the product, but you know how that goes.
I guess that’s the best way for 3DS Max to deal with the competition, just buy them out LOL. Even if they kept the product going and supported it, research and impovements takes a lot of time and effort and you know that Autodesk will spend most of their efforts on 3DS Max and not Maya.
If I were a Maya owner, I would be VERY displeased with the news. Especially since Maya doesn’t come cheap.

 So you think Adobe will stop development on Fireworks, Dreamweaver to… i don’t think so… and didn’t Autodesk take over Discreet first  i am positive that with such a huge program they will not kill it… if it only where for the lost profit

Also don’t forget marketing people are sneaky snakes… like Proctor & Gamble for example, they have about 5 different brands of washing powder they sell in the supermarket overhere, but its all from the same company

Maybe you’re right, but then again you never know. Sometimes companies can be fickle when it comes to things like these.
I don’t own Maya myself, but if I did it would still make me nervous.
