Saving a CRASH

Hi All

I’m a newbie trying to deal with a frozen full screen and save my work.

All suggestions are welcome. I’m hope the answer is in the keyboard,

Cheers

Paul

I should have mentioned that the cursor is moving with a plus sign.

How could I have saved it along the way without creating another tool?

I’ve been running into this issue too (program locking up with a big white “plus” sign cursor), and trying to pin down what causes it. I will tell you that I was able to recover from it once without exiting the program, but cant say what I did. Im beginning to suspect it might be related to a conflict with my Wacom or maybe one of Windows tablet/ink features, so I unplugged my tablet from my computer and did a few other things, and was able to return back to normal program functioning.

There is an autosave feature in ZB enabled by default, so if you ever crash you can load the most recent file in your quicksaves directory to keep from losing too much work.

However, I’m not entirely certain this autosave doesn’t contribute to problems like this, since it has a bad habit of kicking in in the middle of other operations in the program. I personally disable it by increasing the saving intervals in the Preferences> Quicksave section to their max value.

The next time it happens, Ill be sure to make more careful note about what I did to resolve. Just wanted to let you know it’s worth not quitting the program immediately when this happens–you may be able to recover. As always, it is best to develop a habit of aggressive manual saves, either with Tool> Save AS (saves current tool only), or File > Save As (saves all tools currently loaded in a session as a project file, along with a lot of other information).
