Save as Tool or Project

When I save as a Tool.ZTL file and open it up again it does not appear on the screen automatically. I have to drag it onto the screen. All the previous data seems to be there, but as I said getting it onto the screen has to be done manually.

When I save the work as a project.ZPR it does appear on the screen automatically.

Which version is the best workflow method to save your work as you are working on a model?

Thanks

.ZPR Project file
.ZTL Ztool
Opening a project should open file as it was when saved.

Thanks…

It depends on the needs of your project. A Project file will save a lot of data in addition to the geometry worked on–every loaded tool in the file and all their subtools, custom materials or lighting amongst other settings, and even an undo history if that option is enabled. This can result in extremely large file sizes that may eventually become problematic.

If all you need to save is the geometry for an individual tool and its subtools, it would be more efficient to simply save it as a tool, and load it into a scene as necessary.

Thanks… Yes, all I need is the geometry for an individual tool so I will use that method. (Lower file size too)
