Satan's own Chihuahua...or how I am learning to love Release 2

I haven’t worked regularly in zBrush for awhile so when Release 2 came out I decided to do a project to reaquaint myself with it and get used to the new work flow. The project is “Satan’s own Chihuahua”, a three headed gate guard for the entrance to the underworld that might look ok draped over Paris Hilton’s arm.

So to start with I did a base head tol that I can Mod:

So I want each one of the heads to have a unique personality. Understand that this is a static model for a final render and not for animation so I am a tad poly heavy and the topology is basic sculpt for now.

First head is the central which is a bit of a punk, currently lacking his mohawk and tongue piercing:

The second resculpt is a sad little bloke who is most likely not so excited about being stuck fr eternity next to the first guy…

Finally there is the question of how all the components will go together and how to control the polycount to make UV mapping easier. The body is a rough mock up

love the short arsed Cerebus

now thats what i call small dog syndrome

Great concept and modelling

Cool concept!
Look forward to see how it looks like when it’s done!

If you find a hard time with the tools in Zbrush for retopo and UV you should checkout

Topogun for Retopo. You can make Low level Polymesh and then projekt the highpoly over it.
You can then import it back to Zbrush with the sub-d levels remaining.

For UV, I like Headus UV. You can UV map in 3D. Import the UV mapped lowpoly mesh back to Z and copy UV’s to The Exported meshes from Topogun.

And then continue paiting or work further with the model in some way.
Looking forward for see the end result!

Thanks for the comments guys!Blackshore:I have been trying to do this entire model in R2 as an exercise but I may resort to TOPOGUN in the end as it is fast and it is what I know. The retopology workflow in zBrush 4 is pretty good though and I want to explore it a bit more before I do. I usually use either TG or MODO to do my UVs (MODO has AWESOME UV tools).Ghostdancer:My grandmother had a nasty little Chihuahua Mutt when I was a kid…I guess the scars are still there. Hee hee.
