hi this is my latest home project. I modeled it in ZBrush, exported a mid level model to XSI, added the bells and whistles. The original concept was to portray a Samba dancer of Rio or other similar parade event.

The title? On Cgtalk a fellow has told me, that her sister is Samba dancer, but as far as I learned, not dressing into this hot costumes, and he told, that it may hurt samba enthusiasts. So, to refer the Carnival at Rio de Janeiro, I changed the original titile (Samba!) to this.

Originally it was Samba!, but I wanted to refer to Carnival in Rio. So hence the title, Samba de Janeiro. The famous Carnival is on my must see list. Maybe I can get there in 2020 (Hence the 2020 suffix) as things are going now

Hey Dude, I WON’T drop the SSS, but paint an SSS weight map I’m satisfied with the rest of the body, and since the fingers are thinner, and SSS shader doesn’t know that there are bones under the skin thus the glowing side effect. Hope you agree with it

One thing just doesnt click for me… Rio reminds me of girls with dark skin, at least very tanned…
Your girl looks very classical, dunno if the contrast is good or not, for me it doesnt work that well on a concept level.
A part from this, awesome skills.
I bet you want to stick to your SSS settings… hard to start from scratch with a different skin tone, as getting settings right for the SSs shaderis a little bit of a pain…
I find a lot easier to do pale skin with the SSS shader, dark or black skin scatters much less so the SSS effect needs to be extremely subtle or it will look like a wax doll.
A small update to the skin (make more latino, yeah!), and the costume colors. I try to find the way, so help is really appreciated.
this may sound simple, but what really makes it for me on this model is how realistic the fat deposits are depicted on her “saddle-bag area” Subtle and great.
