hi all…lots of street fighter fans here…i am a great fan of the game too…started with ryu recently…still working on him…c&c r welcome…

some suggestions would be a great help…
Looking good. Skin tones are feeling really nice. Really love the polypaint/texture you did there very cool!
Work on wrinkles in clothing more. The sternocleidomastoid is going the wrong way needs to go up behind the ear. The biceps could be pulled in a hair away from the elbow area.
I think the main problem is that he feels more like Hulk then he does Ryu. Ether his face needs some work or his size and proportions need some more style and refining.
I don’t want to sound harsh I just really want this to look good. You have alot of things that are working.
yeah…i feel the same way too. cool sculpt by the way.
Mrguy - thanks for the support bro i thought its something totally off…totally agree with u…will redo the proportions
dhasian -
heres something i did with the same mesh…

the anatomy is looking really nice, but I feel that the faces are too generic “CG” westernised- Ryu and Sagat are both asiatic characters and that should be shown in their features. The differences between asian and western features drill down even to the shape and dimensions of the skull itself, and has a big impact on the overall look.
I recommend the 3D Total eBook “ZBrush Character Design” which is only about $15, has 4 hours of tutorial vids to go with it and is awesome for breaking down exceptional racial, age and skin types into realistic characters. I love it! my Dhalsim, which is a recent thread, was done based on this book’s advice, and is my first attempt at a detailed head sculpt- I couldn’t have done it without this book1
Hope this is helpful!

I’m not sure if i agree with sagat having camo shorts and no eye patch. those are both trademark accesories for him. but then again it is your choice and your portrayal of the character.
on your, ryu model, you may want to do something about the belt. it looks too obvious that the knot was placed there rather than being tied. and the soldier… his scar… well, i think you should either elaborate on it being a wound, after all its a pretty heavy gash going over several major arteries, the jugular being one of them, in which case hed be bleeding to death… or its a scar, in which case it should look like a scar insted of an open wound. but if he was cut in that many major muscle groups that deeply his muscles would actually react. i mean, your essentially splitting his pectoral in two. so the muscles would just come undone. in real life hed no longer be able to push anything with that arm.
Most of the other posts have adequately described what I think of the Ryu model - well done, but the proportions seem more Hulk-ish than like Ryu. I like the over-sized hands and feet, but he should have a more Asian aesthetic to his face, a sharper chin, and such. If you use some of the artwork for the Street Fighter games as a reference, I’m sure you’ll get that down in no time.
Sagat(I’m assuming it’s Sagat, since Ryu is here, too) seems to be disproportionate in his torso area. I’ll just put a list of musculature problems I’ve noticed:
-At the back, his deltoid should overlap the teres major; it looks as if it is connecting to the arm above the triceps, giving it a strange, almost stunted appearance.
-The trapezius muscle connecting to the back of his skull appears to be too low - in most of the musculature models, it connects just above the lobe of the ear. In Sagat, it appears to be connected parallel to the back shelf of the jaw.
-The external oblique should be a bit more visible from the back view; the latissimus dorsi seems to cover it.
-The bulge between the latissimus dorsi and the trapezius muscles doesn’t exist. The closest thing to it would be the rhomboideus, which right now is dwarfed by the large teres major you have.
-The gastrocnemius is a bit sharp near the bottom - I’d suggest maybe smoothing it back into the leg a bit more. On the leg with the bent knee, I’d also suggest making the tension in the biceps femoris a bit more obvious.
-The enlarged latissimus dorsi would cause his arms to carry away from his torso a bit more. Maybe if you move the elbow a bit further out from the body - it would make muscular sense, and give him a slightly more imposing stance.
I’m not saying it isn’t a good model, just that some of the musculature is a bit off. When you’re dealing with human characters, it’s hard to get everything exactly right, because even non-artistic people instinctively know when something is wrong with them - you see humans everyday, you get to know them, etc.
Besides the musculature, you might consider altering his stance a bit. The leg that is bearing his weight would **** slightly to the side, since it is pushing his hip bone up further than the bent leg. To counter this, most people with their weight on one leg slightly lean away from the load-bearing him, while keeping the upper part of their torso centered. The best visualization I can give is that if you were to draw straight lines across the hips and shoulders, and then you tilted the line for the hip, the line for the shoulders should tilt as much, in the opposite direction.

I apologize for the quality, I thought maybe an actual picture would help a bit so I threw that together. This sort of stance would help to break up the symmetry of the upper body a bit more, in addition to the scar on the chest. Hope this helps - they do look good.
