Rusted Golden Idol Error?

Sorry if this was mentioned somewhere else but I did a forum search and couldn’t find anything on it. I am getting an error in the Rusted Golden Idol ZScript. It happens when The Gold material comes in. The script says it is now going to select a material to later be modified to make gold and although it highlights the colorizer mat, the script selects the second rust material. So then, when the script goes to adjust the saturation of the material, it hits an error for interface not found.

Though I would let you guys know…and sorry again if this has already been mentioned/fixed.

BTW - I loaded the ZScript from my 1.55b folder and that one seems to work fine… shrug

There seems to be problems with several of the Zscripts that came with Z2. Now that the manual’s out, I’m going to be avoiding them until a patch occurs.

Rusted Golden Idol script runs fine over here. I’m not using any startup document and I initialise zbrush when the script starts.

Just out of curiousity, what are your folks systems configs?

OS, hardware, etc.

I’m:

Win 2K + Sp4
MSI K7D Master, Dual Athlon MP 2.0Ghz
1GB RAM
Quadro FX 1000, 56.72 Driver, Nview enabled.

I’ve seen enough people with the script problems that I’m wondering if we all have something incommon (besides ZBrush2 of course).

Not sure what is going on. If I had to take a guess it would be that you have run some 1.55b scripts before running the V2 rusted golden idol script. Some scripts initialise the interface to 1.55b settings for compatibility. Either that or you have a Startup Document that contains some custom materials.

I doubt very much that it has anything to do with system specs.

I just encountered this problem, and saw this thread…

So I started ZBrush again without a custom startup document, and with a standard UI, ran the script and got the same error when it’s working on the gold material:

ZScript Note: Interface item could not be found.

MATERIAL:MODIFIERS:Saturation in…[ISet,MATERIAL:MODIFIERS:Saturation,1]

Seems this script needs to be edited or redone to work correctly with Z2.

TVEyes,

Unfortunately, I’ve had problems with Zscript out of the box, before any customization and before creating a startup. I’m not really sure what the issue is, but anything really is possible and if were all using the same cpu, mainboard, video card, drivers, whatever it might help to track it down and squash it. Beside, we’re supposed to post configs with issues anyway

Sorry I didn’t post configs guys. Didn’t think it was relevent. I will try it again but on my home computer then pop on back in here and let you all know what happens.

Woops, sorry Nimajneb, I forgot to add my specs and was to lazy to edit the post :o

I think the simple answer is that there IS no materials attribute called “SATURATION” that can be ISet to 1 or any other value.

I suspect that someone added that instruction while adapting and updating the comments for the Rusted Idol demo, version Z2, then forgot to test it.

No the problem seems to be that the copy of the rust material is where the colorizer metal is supposed to be. When it picks this material, it cannot find the saturation which normal belongs to the colorized metal…because the second rust material is taking its place…something along those lines. Like I said though, the 1.55b zscript seems to run fine in Z2. I really think the error is because the old script calls on a material in the in the same directory while the new zscript utilizes the new copy/paste functions in Z2.

Wonder if it’s similar issue with the other scripts I have bomb on me? I’ve had the interface script and the dispacment mapping script bomb on me. Posted on that to an earlier thread. Hum…

So for, Rusted Golden Idol is the only script that I get errors. Everything else plays fine.

Just ran the Idol script here at work and it also ran fine here. I have a plain install of Z2 with no zscripts or materials brought over from 1.55b.

I’ve tried running with notes, without notes, show actions on and off etc. Can’t make it fail. All other scripts I have tried also worked fine.

This is some funny @$%&!
I have an Idea…testing something.

OK, I just tried it with everything turned off and Minimals turned on and it works now. This is very weird.
I give up…my brain hurts.

Me too.

I ran the tut six times with various changes in settings… sometimes from a clean start, sometimes after doing other stuff in Z2. Five times the tut aborted looking for the Saturation attribute… the sixth time, somehow it found Saturation and completed the model. cough Go figure.

How old is that tut…and you’ve only just tried it?..
