Rotoscoping in Z >> for realistic? ......... or only Fantasy modeling?

Hi there,
Can Z brush do rotoscoping - so I can
do realistic modeling - or is it only good
for fantasy creations?

or is there a workaround?

thanks so much!

Cindy

What you can do is load your image into the texture pallette and then go into your layers the “fill” button. Now you have a background you can work over as a guide. Next create another layer. What I do next is increase the transparency level of the material I am working with and turn the “flatten layers” button to “off” in the render pallette. That way I can see through my tools and materials etc. to the background image, so I can use that as a guide. Of course, when you are done, you can move the transparency levels back to “zero” and you can switch “flatten layers” back to “on” for final rendering. I hope what I wrote was clear.

I’ve been meaning to use this technique to model the Tantive IV from Star Wars from a blueprint I found, but I’ve been too lazy to get around to it yet.

Hey thanks a lot.
This sounds promising! It is really
important that I can do rotoscope.
I am just a newbie with the demo - but will
try this asap ( well, after I can figure out
the basics, that is.)
My only wish now ( besides max export)
would be to texture WITH a photograph.
Is this possible with your method?

thanks a lot,

Cindy

Hi Cindy. I’ve just worked up a tutorial to show how to texture using Photographs. You can find it by clicking this link.

Although you can’t try the exact method out with the demo, it does show what you’re looking for in action.
