Rotating newly created mesh creates odd result

Hello Everyone. I’m pretty new to Zbrush. After I “make 3d” an Alpha, I try to rotate the entire new mesh but it falls apart like this… (before and after pictures attached)

When you create a 3d object from an alpha… will it not behave as a single subtool? Making it double sided is supposed to make it watertight, no?

Thanks for any help.paint 1.jpgpaint 2.jpg

I discovered that by dynameshing, the object then behaves correctly. It would be nice if the Pixolic video on how to make 3d objects from Alphas mentioned this or does this only happen to certain alphas?

You don’t need to use DynaMesh - there’s a mask applied to the model created using the Make3D button (you need to turn on Tool>Masking>Show Mask to see it). The point of the mask is to allow you to clean up the join if you want to. But you need to clear the mask before rotating or working with the new model - press Tool>Masking>Clear or Ctrl+click+drag the background.

Ahhhhh, didn’t know there is a mask that is created there.

Nice catch, thank you.
