Rosie The Riveter (WIP)

Well this is a project I’ve been wanting to do for a while, mainly for my portfolio, I’m just finishing senior year and I wanted to have something in the realm of (realistic) 3d :P…

This is based on the amazing work of MR NORMAN ROCKWELL(notice the caps :P)his work, well for me it’s just inspiring.

I really will appreciate any advices or comments, about how to improve this “thing” of course is far from finish but I trying to finish the modeling process this following week.

I’m really inspired by all the artist on this community and I just hope one day I can be even half as good as some of the artist here :).

You have really captured the spirit of and nailed that image…excellent job so far.:+1:
Really looking forward to seeing the progress on this piece…:+1:

Watchout for the elbow area of the arm that is holding the lunch bucket…where the forarm ties into the upper arm…Check out some Michelangelio drawings for that area of the arm…Also, you want the upper arm to be wider than the forarm.

Probably the sassiest thumbnail I’ve ever clicked on, heh! I had to click to see what it was…you really captured the expression!:+1:

SpiritDreamer: hey thanks… Great observation I’ll definitely take that in to consideration and I promise to keep you updated

Urchinator: thanks I hope I didn’t made the Norman Rockwell’s ghost disappointed :stuck_out_tongue:

A little update I’m working on the pice of cloth on her lap right now, and I’m planning on getting in to the sandwich :stuck_out_tongue:

A bit simplistic, but amazing models always start modestly.

Keep at it and try to make something big, will look forward to this.

Thanks It’s great to see some comments belive it or not it really helps to kee me motivated along the more tedious parts jeje :D, I’m really trying to push it to the realistic side, I already have all the buttons and a lot of detail modeled in maya I’m even gonna work on the book under her feet here’s the original paint ;)…

Hey btw it really hels to see ppl like you commenting  it keeps me motivated and avoid procrastination XP

Soooooo What’s up guys  yesterday I worked on the shoes and the pants and a bunch of other small things like the googles and the face shield. that had to be done, Basically the only two things missing are the handkerchief in her left pocket the riveter hose and the hair :P… I havent decide if I’m going to model the hair or try to go with maya hair any advice on that??..

as always C&C are more than welcome

I hope I’m not waisting zbrush space with all this updates :o Well aside a couple of general small fixes like the cable on the hose for the most part Im pretty happy with the direction this is taking.

I’ve decided I’m gonna give maya hair a try since I’m trying to go photorealistic and all that  Thanks for the suport

Hi guy’s an just updating this so that you dont think I’ve left the project :stuck_out_tongue: obviously this is FAR from finish but I’m working as munch and as fast as I can. This was a quick render test I did to se how the elements looked combined, I know they’re a lot of intersecting object problems and a bunch of other problems but as I said I wanted to keep updating this. I’m gonna keep working on the textures and the render and also the skin shader

She always reminds me of Michaelangelo’s Delphic Sibyl.

This is amazing work.

My one suggestion would be that she’s looking a little “hard” or lack of a better word. I would suggest, for instance, places like her cheek and her forearm muscles, etc, be smoothed just a tiny bit. She’s a tough and muscular girl, but still feminine. Her muscles are hard and protruding like a body builder would be. Here eye orbit on the left side of her face is perhaps a little to sharp as well.

Other than that, this piece is looking amazing. Great work!

Hey… nice suggestion I totally see what you mean, I’ll definitely try to fix it … I do want to keep the feminine side after all it’s all about honoring the hard working woman … thanks for the comment

So… at last we meet again!!! :stuck_out_tongue: … just another update… I’m working on the textures and the normal maps and I’m not on the level of realism I want to achieve yet. so I’ll just have to keep working on this…
