Roll problem on ZBrush 4 on a Mac

Quick question. I created an alpha that I am trying to use. I have set up to use the “roll” function along with lazy mouse. Whenever I first start dragging the mouse the alpha appears cut in half. (left side of image) When I drag in a straight line the alpha keeps repeating over itself and builds up a ton of thickness. (middle image) When I try to drag on a curve the image streaks over itself and blurs out (right image)

I have tried making all kinds of adjustments (roll distance, lazy step, etc) along with initializing my tools. No matter what I do the alpha always starts off cut in half and repeats. Even when I’ve spaced it enough that it doesn’t fully overlap when I run on a curve, it still starts off cut in half and repeats. I’ve tried using standard brush and layered and have issues with both. The alpha look totally clean when I draw rectangle for a single alpha.

Try using the Stitch1 brush with your alpha.

Nope. Still does not work. Once again the alpha starts cut in half and repeats over top as I draw making it thicker than the original set strength.

I have uploaded a video file to show the issue I am having. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer. I have initialized ZBrush before attempting to use the alpha and I have tried a multitude of various settings. The alpha was created in Zbrush as well and looks great when inspected in photoshop.

I presume that you probably reset all your brushes and tried it. Looks like you might have to reinstall ZBrush. If that doesn’t work, you might havt to start a support ticket. I did what you did, using two torus and a sphereinder3D then Alpha Grabdoc to make the alpha in ZBrush, I then used that alpha on the Stitch1 brush and it behaved normally as expected.

Yes, I’ll have to start a support ticket. I just did a fresh install and it’s still behaving the same way. I created the stitch in pretty much the same way you did by using grab doc, so I have no idea why it’s doing this. Thanks for your help.

PS: Are you on a PC or mac? I’m on a mac.

I’m on PC.

Well, good luck. I hope you get it sorted out. I know it would bug the hell out of me.
