Just wrapped up this project here, concept by Aleksey Baydakov (https://www.artstation.com/baydaku)
Since it’s a personal piece, I went Zbrush as much as possible in the beginning to help block out forms, splitting the face into separate subtools , eventually going to Maya for some retopo, Painter for texturing, Arnold n Xgen and used Natron to help composite.
Blah blah boring technical stuff aside, I had a great time working on this one. Every time I was feeling not quite in the mood or, finding myself stuck, I would just rotate him around and chortle at his ridiculous form.
Turned one final render into a poster cause, I just imagine him…having matured out of his younger wilder days, putting down the partying and excessive drug use, and focusing on his true love, what he realized has kept him company throughout his life… dance!
