I was responsible for all the aspects on the creation of this real life statue, including all the digital creation for 3D print ready.
Based on a personal design, it was a big challenge to bring this huge 60 cm/23.6 inches height statue to real life, mainly because I did the 3D print at home, with a very small LCD resin 3D printer, a Elegoo Mars, that only has a print area of 12x6.8x15.5 cm or 4.7 x 2.6 x 6.1 inches.
I had to split it in 47 pieces, and to hide to the max all the cuts. It took around 10 days to print, 24/7, in a total of 19 prints, where each print took from 8 hours to 12 hours, each, to finish at 0.05mm. 2 liters of resin were spent on this one. As final paint, just used a primer, painted with an antique gold ink and did a final dirt effect using a washing technique. Because it’s so big and all the pieces are hollow, I had to do an inside structure with metal wire and cement on the legs and base, so it could stand still easily.
As digital tool, as always for all my modeling stuff, I used Zbrush for everything.
This was my first 3D print ever, so I can’t wait for the next ones!
