Rigging - help

Hey,

Is there a way of exporting my character with the rig/skeleton attached into maya? Or can you only create the character model in zbrush then take it to maya to create the rig.

I’ve been looking on the internet and there seems to be lots of conflicting information and most of the replies seem to be from years ago, so things might of changed since then.

I watched a video and he showed you how to create the rig to pose it in zbrush.
so far I’ve done the following;

  1. select zsphere rig

  2. go to “Rigging > select mesh > select Skin zsphere > Bind mesh”

  3. go to " Adaptive skin > set density to match sub division > shift preview > click on mesh once > de-select preview"

  4. then you can rotate/move/pose etc.

Now if possible i want to be able to export the character with the rig/skeleton into maya so I don’t have to create it again in maya but i have no idea how! :smiley: (i’m new to all these programs and 3d modeling!)

Thank you for any help!

No, sadly you can’t currently export the rig to Maya. It’s specific to ZBrush and mostly just used for posing. The best thing would be to rig your model in Maya.

Thanks marcus_civis!
