Rhino, please critique

Looks nice man. Maybe some hint of trees in the BG haze will help the composition, as it’s a bit bare. Other than that, it’s a nice piece

I am good up to the detailing/texturing stage, but that is where I still need to learn a lot to get a good result. One thing I am not sure on is the poly-count. When a model is going to be rigged and animated there needs to be a certain amount of geometry their to be able to create the necessary deformations and blend shapes. So I am just not sure exactly when to stop adding detail with polygons and when to let normal/ bump/ displacements maps take over.

Any ideas? Any general rules of thumb?
