Hello,
I thought I’d give the modelling tools in Zbrush a try. As a first try, I figured I’d try to recreate a mask.
I’m pleased with the result so far but now I’d like to retopo it.
I tried the Zremesher, wich gave some nice results and is a nice backup.
I also retopoed using the topology brush (see pic). Is there a way i can subd this mesh, and have it fit to mask automatically?
Are there other options to retopo a mesh that i should consider (for the purpose of exercise)?
Thanks,
Elele.
Found the Project button!
Edit: hmm, seems like when i converted the shape from the topology brush to an actual mesh, it gave the mesh thickness. I need the polygons to stay flat. Is that possible?
If i set the smallest brush size will it not create thickness?
Edit 2: success! No more thickness. Feel like I’m writing a blog here
Have you done this tutorial? It’s short and good: http://www.badking.com.au/site/tutorial/understanding-zbrushand-topology-brush/
Does anyone know if there is a way to hide lines on the backfacing side of the model when using the topology brush? Because that makes it really hard to add more lines once you have a few already.
Yup got it bookmarked, i forgot about part 3 though. I also saw the one here in the classroom which is also great ( I really love that they do these kind of videos). But usually they cover one particular method, I guess I’m looking more for an overview of the different methods that are available.
I know about the zremesher wich is great, but i’m having trouble keeping flow lines in the mesh even with guide lines.
The topology brush gives all the control, but it takes a long time to built. I guess now i could combine the zremesher with the topology brush, to get the mesh flow the way i want but i haven’t tried that yet.
PS: i was wondering about hiding those back lines with the topology tool too. It get confusing, specially in thin parts.
Thanks
