Retopology Skin Thickness problem

Hello!

I always used external software for doing retopology but I really would like to learn how to do it in zbrush.

I am following different tutorials but I have an issue that don’t allowed to carry on with my retopology.

Basically I select a zsphere - Rigging, I select the model and I click edit topology and then I start to create my mesh. but when I select the skin thickness and preview the model is not showing up the thickness properly.

Please find attached picture that explain the issue.

Thank you!!!

I think you need at least 4 polygons drawn with retopo for thickness to work. You only have 3. Try adding another polygon or splitting one of the 3.

Thank you for your answer.

I followed your advice and everything was working fine but soon another issue came up.

I am creating this shape and the model is working fine but when I close the last two edges on the bottom I have the same issue again.

Any Idea what can be the problem?

.

Thank you for your time!

It does seem to be acting strangely. I haven’t done any retopo in ZBrush for a long time. Maybe it’s a bug in 4R7, but I can’t say for sure. I tried to recreate what you did and get the same thing also, but adding more polygons, it starts to work properly again. Whenever I did retopo, I always did it in parallel strips and never had that problem (see images). You still need at least 4 polygons though. Maybe the sides of the polygons have to be more parallel. Why it does that, I guess only the developers know for sure. Maybe somebody that does a lot of retopo might have a solution.
