Resolved: Z-Brush lost my activation code

I have just recently reformatted my laptop (Win 7 64 bit) and successfully reinstalled z-brush 4. I remembered do de-authorize before I reformatted. I re activated z-brush, I even ran it a few times, then today I went to run it and it doesn’t start up. I get the are you sure you want to run this win 7 fun pop up and the little disk icon on the mouse cursor shows up for a 1/2 second then I hear a “ding” and it just hangs. it seems like another window popped up and needs another click but I don’t see any other window in the taskbar or alt tab area. So I just hit enter and sure enough it starts up but says it is not authorized. So I go through the web activation and enter all the fields and when I hit submit it goes to the window i normally get the web activation code but nothing is there. Just "ZBrush Registration and Activation
This page is only for users who would like to activate the Windows version of ZBrush 4.0."

Please help

Right-click on the ZBrush shortcut on your desktop (or on the ZBrush application in your ZBrush 4 folder) and choose Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab.

What you’re describing sounds like something has set ZBrush to run in compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows. That must NOT be checked. The only thing that should be active on that window is the option to run as administrator, which is at the bottom. Even that can be turned off after you’ve successfully activated.

Once this has been fixed you should be able to reactivate successfully.

Changing your system clock or setting compatibility mode will always cause ZBrush to deactivate and will prevent successful reactivation.

Fixed thx

That worked. I think I turned that on as one of my fixes to why it wasn’t loading before I figured out to just hit the enter key when I heard that “ding”. Speaking of the “ding” it still is happening. I am not concerned because I know what to do but what other window can possibly be popping up after the Win 7 “Are you sure you want to let this program make changes to your computer” pop up window ?

Thanks a lot for the quick reply and fix!

I have no idea what that could be. But you CAN get rid of the “are you sure?” message by now turning off Run as Administrator so that nothing is checked anymore on the Compatibility tab. That only needed to be active for initial launch and activation.

Turning it off probably won’t make the mysterious ding go away, but at least you won’t have to keep telling your computer that yes, you really do want to run ZBrush.
