Resolved: Can't install - Redistributable trouble on Win 7 x64!

Hi,

Just downloaded ZBrush 4, but the installer fails almost immediately when it tries to install the Visual C++ redistributable x86. I’m guessing it’s because this is a x64 system?

The error code is 1935

Installer continues, but fails again towards the end of the process. How do I fix this?

Thanks!

ZBrush is a 32-bit app so it uses the 32-bit version of the C++ redistributable.

According to what I’ve been reading, error code 1935 crops up when there’s a problem with your .NET 2.0 installation. Try reinstalling that and see if it fixes this issue.

Method 1: Repair the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 installation
To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, and then click Change/Remove.
Click Repair, and then click Next.

Method 2: Install the .NET Framework version 2.0
If a version of the .NET Framework is not installed on the computer, install the .NET Framework version 2.0. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Method 3: Reinstall the Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1
If the .NET Framework version 1.1 is installed, remove it, and then reinstall it.

To remove the .NET Framework version 1.1, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and then click Change/Remove.
Click Yes to uninstall the .NET Framework version 1.1.
To reinstall the .NET Framework version 1.1, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Thanks,

I already have the x64 version of the redistributable - should I uninstall that?

I’m not sure what that will cause to other software, however, like x64 3ds Max…

Fixed! this turned out to be a services problem.

The redistributable failed to install because one important service was turned off.

If anyone experiences something similar, I recommend to check the services
from this site. It saved my day

I’m glad you got it figured out!

Regarding the other C++ libraries, they should be left alone. Other programs may need what they contain.
