Sometimes when I’m messing with a material’s modifier I end up setting a slider to something extreme, but pressing Ctrl + Z doesn’t reset it to what it was before. How do you discard these changes and put the settings back to how it was before? I found I had no choice but to reset the Preferences and then reload my tool up again.
The materials will return to default settings in each new session. Initializing the program in Preferences > Initialize will purge all custom content (as well as active tool, so save first).
To restore a material without exiting or initializing the program, you can use the Material > Load feature to locate the original version of the material, and reload it into the current slot. The various materials are located in a few different places, but the bulk are in Zbrush2019/ ZData/Materials.
To reset the materials in an active .zpr file in which they are saved without unloading your active tool, see the following video:
Okay, thanks. I guess I’ll just have to make sure I have my materials saved before I start tinkering with them.
