Sorry its long, but I need a clue and its complicated. So I’m building a head and neck medical model with great surgical detail of sinuses, inner ear, eyes. Animated in Max with Vray, painted in Zbrush polypaint, and original models for parts comes from CT scans and programs that can pick out parts and export as stl.
The CT scans are integral in the model in Max using opacity maps and ray tracing and Booleans to make some interesting vomlumetric looking perspectives, so it all has to be spatially accurate with the scans.
When I imported the STL into Zbrush, I didn’t expect it to transfer to max without some scale and orientation issues so I put reference objects.
I end up Resizing up the model by 20x or something, repositioning to match reference marks and there it transfers with Max correctly., then work on it in that position and size.
My question is since I cant have things changing location or size at all and before I put more time in them, is there some function like “reset xform” or center pivot or some more stable arrangement or freeze or some other maintenance move that will prevent problems from the transform? And the geometry > size slider goes to 100 as soon as you scale subtools up some and it wont go higher and just stays maxed out, so that seems strange for one thing. Models that I started in Max and send over, of the new same size have a size of 2 or so in the geometry > size. Ive had screwy scale things going on that I’ve fixed but cant always explain with these zGo, import, export mish mash. Thanks for any clues.
