Reptile scout

Been working on this for quite a while. I tend to get very impatient about halfway through a model and then I start rushing it. I was inspired when I read about the workflow for the awesome Gears of War characters and decided to try to emulate it. I really forced myself to take my time on this one. The WIP thread is here…

Its a little over 7K polys with a 2048 of color, normal, and spec for the body, a 1024 color, normal, and spec for the head and another 1024 map set for the gun. Done in Maya, ZB 3, and Photoshop.

I didn’t get much feedback on CG talk. Hoping to get more C&C’s here. All feedback is appreciated and helpful :D. Thanks!

Nice work. this is a really good game model. So where can I find this GoW workflow article.

That is a great character with a low poly count. I don’t like that the eye is hidden in the second photo as that is were my eye is drawn and is a focul point of the picture.

Nicely done

This looks great! I wana learn the art of games modeling aswell and would love to see that artical.

Wow! Thanks guys. You guys don’t waste time.

JesseGraffam- The info is in the latest D’Artiste book, Character Modeling 2. Great book.

JecN- Yeah, think I’m gonna add to the glove. Its pretty weak.

mikemike2- His right eye has a techno-targeting gizmo. I need to make that more clear.

Thanks for the feed back. You makame berry happy

What a great model and clean sharp render, only 7k polys as well, excellent! Looking forward to a closeup of the eye. I really like the front loading clip on his gun and the texture around his feet, very convincing.
