Hello!
The title might not be totally clear, so i’ll try to include as much detail as I can.
I am currently working on a graphic novel, but I’m using 3D (styled to look like 2D art) instead of drawing from scratch every character in every panel. I love how I can control the lighting for dramatic scenes and also pose the character in dynamic ways I would not have thought of myself to draw. I was planning to create scenes for panels and then move the image over to photoshop to do small touch ups. I have a model that I’m very happy with, but after hours of frustrating work trying to rig and pose, I’ve found it just takes way too long to pose the character than just drawing the character out myself. ( Also, getting some horrible wonkiness when posing with rigs that is just a waste to fix for every scene… ultimately not worth the time.)
What I found instead was a tutorial online on how to make your own mannequins, the mannequins are incredibly easy to pose and I was hoping there would be a way to replace the “head” of the mannequin, the arms, the hands, the midsection with my own parts from my model, and then pose it with the mannequin. Then, afterwards I can just touch up the image and draw in the knees and elbows and neck, and anything else that would be a Zsphere in photoshop.
I found an option in “Adaptive Skin” section that allows you to change the local and connector meshes, I was thinking that would be great as its so close to exactly what I need, but for some reason when I add in my mesh ( let’s say the head for example ) i get this horrible stretching effect when I thought it would plop the head right in to replace the current head.
Any ideas on how to do this? I’m wracking my brain but unfortunately I’m very new to Zbrush, so i’m not aware of all its options. Perhaps what I’m looking for is very simple to do or perhaps it doesn’t exist and i’ll have to figure something else out. any help will be appreciated!
Here’s an image below of what happens when I try to replace the head of the mannequin with my models head, for example. Is there a way to fix this? LOL It’s all skinny and stretched out.
