repairing dynamesh damaged mesh

Hi. Would you have any advice as to how to repair a mesh with multiple little holes? Is there a way to fix it locally while still preserving some of the shapes underneath? Things I’ve tried are inflating and laying some “curvetubeline” clay on top but both methods are less than ideal. Would be great if there were better ways, ideally something like laying a piece of cloth ever them and it taking the shape covering the holes.

Thank you for your patience with my rookiness and advice.

you can try to append a cube, flatten it to a plane, and then use match maker brush to (lay your cloth on it). The problem is probably coming from your mesh scale. Dynamesh is based on volume, if your scale up your mesh and try it again it will probably not have the same problem.

oh, you mean simply scaling the model while keeping the same shape? hmmm
Thank you very much for the match maker idea, that’s brilliant!
