This one has got me puzzled… So I have my nice finished model ready ( not quite yet!! ) I would like to render it with an alpha background. I usually paint my backgrounds in Artrage. Is there a easy way of doing this ?..I cant seem to figure this out. How do you experts do it? I have seen images with backgrounds obviously not done in Zbrush…I think. I’ve searched the docs and youtube and google, all I really found was one convoluted way of doing it which was far more complicated than hitting a “render with alpha” key.
You can’t export a BPR with an alpha in the same file. What you can do is export the ‘Shaded’ and ‘Mask’ images from the BPR RenderPass sub-palette. You could then import those separately into ArtRage. Export the ‘Mask’ image as a BMP file as I don’t think ArtRage will recognise the PSD file.
Actually scratch that first sentence. I forgot about the Texture>GrabDocAndDepth button:
- Do your BPR render.
- Press the Texture>GrabDocAndDepth button.
- Export as a PSD by pressing Texture>Export.
Note that this will include an alpha channel with the depth information, so it will be the equivalent of the ‘Depth’ image not the ‘Mask’ in the BPR RenderPass sub-palette.
