Render passes

You all know about the passes in render palette. I am curious why there is a shaded pass and then separate shadow pass. It makes no sense to compose more shadows over already baked in ones, I mean it may be helpfull on occasion but not as much as when you have them totally separated. To have full control over shadows I have to first render with shadows turned off save this pass and then again with shadows ON. Why there is no unshaded pass, this woul be very helpfull.

any chance to have unshaded pass added?

use flat shaded material at render time

Turn shadows off in Render-Render Properties

this is what I am doing, I was just thinking if pixologic could include a separate pass without shading

Unfortunately this is what I’ve been stuck doing as well.

To clarify for others, the main pass would be more of a shaded/diffuse pass (not flatcolor), with the additional shadow pass being the cast-shadows only.

come across this thread while asking myself the same question as the original poster…

is there still no way of removing the shadows from the shaded pass? (i.e - go back to the old image pass) - feels like a step backwards to me. I’m sure it’s not, but it’s throwing me off.

what material is recommended to get the least shadow information on the shaded pass. I don’t want to use matcap’s as I’m using lights.

thanks
