Removing seams and spots

Hi,

I’m new to ZBrush and my first sculpt has seams on it from inserted spheres. However, as these spheres are no subtools but inserts on the main tool (using the InsertSphere Brush) I have no idea how to merge them so the entire sculpt becomes one, seamless piece. Increasing the subdivision level just makes the problem worse, and Dynamesh does not appear to eliminate the added spheres either. Is there a way to keep the “skin” of the object as one, new piece and scrap the underlying, invisible structure entirely?

Second, changing the material results in weird spots all over the sculpt that are still present after rendering. Is this normal? What went wrong here and how can I fix it?

Edit: Remeshing is what I’ve been looking for - it has solved both of my problems nicely.
