I know that this topic has been addressed before. However, I will bring it up again. Why can the poster of an image not be able to remove it from the forum. If he can edit it, surely, he should be able to remove it. Case in point. Some one posts an image and realizes that it is the wrong one, deletes the text and the image but the name remains so if you click on that name it is blank. This is just a waste of effort for the person thinking that there was an image there, and frustration for the poster who wanted it removed in the first place but was prevented to do so by the program.
Good morning Dee…I think that is just how the program is…what i do when I mess up and post something that I didnt want up, I edit the post and leave blank text and then in the posting title I just type in Please Ignore or something like that…EZ just had that happen on the community forum a couple of day ago…(though I responded just to be playful with him) Hope you’re having a great weekend in paradise
hi, DeeVee!
actually i usually upload pics to Floyd’s server (btw: time to thank you once again, Digits +
), so for me it is a bit different and i never encountered that problem. as i uploaded the outlined monkey today to pix’s server i am able to show you what i would think should work visually: ok, you upload an image and realize it is not the one you wanted - go to “edit post”. the location of the pic is between the tags with image inside (i underlined it yellow)
just mark and delete the whole thing including the tags and upload the new image. mayhaps the new code with tags is appearing at the very end of your message, so copy/cut and paste it to where you want to have it. - voila! i am not sure what will happen to the wrong thumbnail, though, but it should disappear within short time as new pics are uploaded anyway.
i just gave the procedure a try and it worked without any difficulties.
hope this helps!

While I’ve never tried to remove an image entirely, there have been times when I’ve replaced one with another. Deletion would be even easier.
As Juandel said, it’s the image tags. Just remove everything from the first bracket to the last, and UBB won’t even know to look for an image anymore.
Actually, reading your post again, it sounds like you’re really asking why the poster of a thread can’t delete his own thread. This is a decision that was made by the administrators, most likely because of the feature’s potential for misuse. Yes, it would be handy to be able to remove a thread once in a while if you just posted it and then realized that it was a bad idea. But granting that power also means granting the ability to delete other people’s responses to your posts and other people’s posts within that thread. In the process, some valuable info could be lost forever.
If you mistakenly create a thread, the best thing is simply to change your post to say that you don’t want the thread, and asking that an administrator delete it. That will keep other people from posting responses until an administrator can get to it.
Folks thanks for the feedback, I have removed images and text from some of my posts. At this time only the poster or a moderator can remove things from a post.
What I was speaking about is the title. If you try to remove it, you receive a message saying that something must be in the file for it to be removed. I have written the moderators to remove the file in question and nothing was done. I just feel that if I put it up I should be able to remove it from my post, not any other person’s.
