Remesh by union locally?

Hi.

IS there a way to have the functionality of “Remesh by union” work locally.
By that i mean, for example i have a creature, and its mouth is closed up, now down the line i decide i would like it to have 3 fingers instead of 4, so i want the 2 center fingers to merg together into 1 finger. I would smash them together, and use remesh by union, smooth it and zremesh it.
The only problem is, now its unioned every bit that intersected, so anything happening in the closed mouth, any fleshy overhangs or whatever you can imagine will be merged, which is not great. And since i need zremesher, opening the mouth on a layer and close it back up later dun’ work.

It would be great if i could mask out the fingers/hand, and tell zbrush to just “remesh by union” that area and leave everything else alone.

Any way to do this?

Best

Hello @Kevin_Beckers ,

Dynamesh can be used locally by hiding areas of the mesh you don’t want to be affected. Since you’re going to ZRemesh anyway, you could use that to merge the features together.

Good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:
