One thing ive always struggled with is reliably selecting subtools by alt clicking them. I often end up having to zoom in or shrink my brush to select them
Is there a way I can select the subtool simply by the position of the central cross hair rather than it taking into account the brush size?

I think ive worked it out… I need to double click sometimes!

Your Draw Size will not affect this, but there are certain tools and situations that will conflict with the Alt+ click shortcut. For instance if you have an IMM brush active, this will no longer work. The safer shortcut to use is Shift + Alt +click. That works in all situations.
Remember that you can always use the N key (by default) to bring up a pop up selection window of the tool’s subtools.
