Refreshing Canvas? Multiple objects in sub tools & Zremesher leaving shadow objects?

Hi,

Have around 60 odd Sub tools in my list - all part of the same ‘construct’ - I am needing to re-topologize these to make them easier to work with. I am trying to hide and reveal them one at a time and I am finding:

  1. using the ‘eye’ in the subtools list has unpredictable results when just wanting to hide certain sub tools - sometimes the entire list goes invisible!? and then other times it swaps what is above or below your selection!? is this a ‘feature’ or am I doing this wrong?
  2. If I want Zremesher to create a higher density mesh on remeshing - it leaves a shadow object on the canvas that sits in the way of whatever you’re doing!? by shadow it looks like a snapshot of whatever was there before but you cannot move it, select it or seemingly get rid of it!?

Not sure if its a bug!? or a ‘feature’ - is there anyway to refresh your canvas etc without losing your work? and any advice on the sub tools list would be great!

Thanks!

Ctrl+n to clear the canvas. Hold shift while clicking on the eye to show or hide them all(except the selected)
And you may want to check for update

Thanks - kind of helped - but now it seems my sub tools are all out of alignment!!

If I go to redraw the tool on the canvas all my objects are now displaced all over the place!!! :roll_eyes:small_orange_diamond:cry:

This tool takes some getting used too! I don’t how any of you guys manage to create the amazing stuff you do!??

I am screwed now - unless there is a way to re-align all the parts? [all 60 of them!!] :-1:

Maybe you hit Expose?

it’s just a matter of getting familiar with how the controls work.

when you click on the eye of the subtool that is selected, it will toggle all subtools invisible or visible.
when you click on the eye of any other subtool that is not selected, then only that tool will be toggled.

also the subtool you have selected will ALWAYS be visible whether the eye is on or off.

it confused me at first too. i thought it must be broken but it wasn’t, it was me.
there is a sensible logic to it.

i went through the same thing with the canvas. it was maddening at first but then you pick up on a few things and it’s no big deal.

there are times, and i don’t know why because i’m not fully versed on zbrush either, but the “edit” button gets turned off, and so when you go to do the next thing on the canvas, another tool gets drawn instead and you’re like “what the…!”

don’t panic, just draw out the tool, click “edit” and then hit Ctrl + n and everything will be back to normal, including the undo history.

that’s actually a feature that allows one to render a scene using multiple instances of the object without having to duplicate the tools. among other things.

you’re just bumping into to things right now, happens to most of us. pretty soon you’ll be zipping along.
