Red Sonja

Hey Guys,
I have been working on this character for my portfolio. Its been inspired from ed benes drawings of red sonja. hope you guys like it. All c&c is most welcome.

Wow, really beautiful model! I like how this is coming along, the pose, detail, attitude, texture, everything is working very nicely! Only critique I noticed is around the knee joint area seems a little too wide, could be a bit skinnier there, but really this is way awesome! Excellent job, I also like how you captured her in motion. Keep up the great work! :+1: :+1:

I am from Argentina, I love her comic style, she remember me the Heavy Metal series , although I am roockie with z brush, but if you want u can visit my blog on : mauromisiewicz.blogspot.com
congratulations for your work!
my apology for the English, greetings!

Looks great, nice pose. I like the full figured look. I agree with Ben about the knees and I also think her ankles are a bit wide too. Also just a suggestion on the textures, I think they could use a grit pass. There just a little too flat and cartoonish. Some weathering on the leather and a little tarnish on the metal to break it up a bit maybe.

I think these things could just add to what already looks great.

The thing that bugs me most is the pose. Her legs aren’t showing much action, they seem relaxed.

Crom! and Mitra! :+1: :+1: :+1:

She Devil with a Sword!!

great model man!

i just think that knee and lower leg are a bit thick even for a strong woman as Sonya… not to feminine!
also pose of legs need more work too.
and please do more work on face textures and render! this model really deserve better render! its too good to for render like this!

keep on good work!

Hey guys
thanx for all the feedback. It will definitely help me improve the model.

Benjw703: Thanks for the compliments man!! Appreciate it. Yeah I noticed the legs after I just posted. I think they could get longer and yeah the knee area needs some improving.

M-Wicz: Thanks for stopping by and the feedback dude. Liked your venom character in your blog as well.

TriAxis: Thanks for the great feedback. Yeah I agree abt fixing the textures and adding more damage, dirt and stuff…hopefully I can get them done soon. The legs too need some improving.

John Strieder: Thanks dude. Appreciate it!!

dustinbrown: Thanks for commenting man!! Yeah I will try and improve the legs!!

willbrown1: Thanks dude!! appreciate it!!

chovasie: Thanks for the feedback dude. I will definitey work a little more on the textures. I am not very savvy with rendering in zbrush…but I will definitely try to post better renders in the future!!

I like just about everything but the way the head is positioned. It looks ‘tacked on’ or possibly broken/dislocated. It doesn’t look natural at any rate…

everything else is looking great, looking forward to seeing the progress on this one

That’s looking gorgeous! What’s the secret to that great hair???
Love the fleshyness of the sculpt but fix that head/neck problem though, the model deserves it

just fix her neck and it’ll be great

Hey guys,
Thanks for the great feedback. It really helped me see the model in a new light. I have just taken a few screengrabs to show the progress made especially on the legs. I have also adjusted the neck/head area. Hopefully they are some meaningful improvements. All feedback is welcome. Thanks

testure: Thanks for the crit man. I dont know how I missed that one…basically the hair had covered the front part of the neck and so the head appeared to be sitting awkwardly…hopefully the new images are an improvement on that front.

CaptainHowdy: Thanks for the feedback man!! The hair is no secret …just sculpting using claytubes brush with a brush mod of 30. I also appended several boxes for the hair strands and sculpted those separately.
Hopefully the head neck problem is solved in the new update.

Tomala: Thanks dude. Hope the problem is fxed.

Wow, how did I miss this thread…in my opinion, this is by far one of the best female warrior sculpts here at ZBC. Really great hair! :+1: :+1:

I can see no problems now  well done :+1:

great texturing dude ! I’m loving your work… flawless !

definitely_maybe nice renders Frazetta would give these his seal of approved I am sure or maybe he would prefer a slightly rounder rump  never the less - great stuff there mate

Truly awesome. You’ve captured her excellently. I bow to your greatness!

i love your work

the feeling of weight on the leg infront really shows well
the other knee looks as if its maybe a tiny tad too far down?

the rotation movement of the upper body looks great from the angle of her face facing the viewer but i think in the actual front view it looks a little creepy
as if she was turning her head 180

i think the perfect thing would be a little more swing in the hair so that little of her face and neck is visible revealing the rotation of the head.

it would be great if you could upload a quick turntable.
i guess in relation when rotating everything looks fine :sunglasses: :+1:
