Re-Imported Mesh - surface distortion

Software: Maya 2009, Zbrush 4

What I’m trying to do is export my subtool at subd1 to maya (Create Multiple Objects set to False), adjusting the UV’s that got shifted in my UV plane and re-import them back into zbrush to render out a normal map. After re-importing my obj mesh at subd1…I bump it back up to higher subd levels and notice my surfaces are being distorted. I’ve also tried reimporting the original base mesh and no luck. My UV’s are layed out good but the surface is not.

The only thing that comes to mind is that you have some masked areas ?!
Remove the masking and see if it fix it.
Also, if you have 3dlayers, turn the REC mode off… before export/import

no masks on…i think its time to recreate the object
