Hello Everyone,
I’m trying to learn how to make clothing using mesh extraction. The first image attached shows a cartoon bull with a section masked. This is an attempt to extract geometry to make a tuxedo bib. The model has approximately 5.5 million polys, and was at its maximum resolution when the extraction was made.
The second image shows that the edges of the extracted geometry are jagged. The second image was produced by creating a 8192x8192 px document, drawing the bib subtool on that document, then exporting to Photoshop. Even when the PS document is reduced on a layer, the edges are rough. I don’t think this is a pixelation problem.
Prior to extraction, the mask was sharpened as far as it would go. The extraction was done at .01 thick with E_Smt set to 0 (all the way left). If I turn E_Smt on, it doesn’t just smooth the edges. It deforms the V-shaped notch in the collar.
I tried to use the pinch brush to refine the edges, but that effort wasn’t particularly successful. It would be much better to produce smooth edge when extracting. If anyone has any ideas, I’d love to hear them.
Thanks,
