Radiant Waterfall

I challenged myself to make a portfolio entry in one weeks time - something that resembles a pipeline deadline. The concept I was not allowed to choose myself either (as would be the case as mentioned). I got permission to use a D&D map from the guys at SpellArena and they gave me a whole bunch! I then got my best friend to choose a design and then set to work on it. The difference in what is perceived in 2D vs 3D is staggering, I had to downscale the work by a factor of 2 - the road for instance looks like a dual lane 6M road, but I had to change it to a 3.5m road (actually far more common for rural roads in medieval times) as my hardware couldn’t handle it, but it had to be sufficient for a horse and cart to make it across. The only design allowance I made for myself is the bridge - I felt that this place is somehow special, and not necessarily in a human way, so the bridge was changed to an architectural style that is not human (geomancy?) and the statue itself was changed from being recognizably human to something more mysterious that could fit any of the races in fantasy. Even the water was done in Zbrush

What a great project to set yourself. This really turned out well - excellent work and thanks for sharing! :+1:

I actually forgot to add the concept bit, but I have now added it. Now you can see the realization as well!

Thanks! I feel ZBrush is not used enough for environments - ironically it is the only tool I ever want to use for the same.
