1- I have read updates are free. If I buy ZBrush, will I have free updates forever, just for the 4 version or how?
Version 4R7 has been announced and will be a free update. Version 5 may or may not be. Despite the past I don’t expect version 5 being a free update. I think Pixologic has created a huge user base by now and 5 is probably going to be a big step up. I expect an upgrade cost, but if I’m wrong I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
2- I saw some retailers with lower price than the main site for the Windows PC with CD rom version. For example MotionMedia or CGRiver. These are linked as oficial retailers. If I buy mi soft and serial number to them, is has the same rights as if bought here directly to Pixologic, or not? What is the difference?
It should be the same as if you bought directly from Pixologic. I don’t know MotionMedia or CGRiver but I’ve purchased a few licenses from Novedge, also an official retailer with a lower price. They send an official serial and a link to download. I originally bought the physical DVD but later just bought the digital versions as the physical media is basically worthless. I keep backup copies of the digital files in case I need them.
3- on how many computers in the same house can I install ZBrush with my single user license?
I’ve talked to Pixologic about this and they said you can have it installed on 2 computers. However you can only use Zbrush on one of them at a time. I use the same license on my work and home computer. It’s also great if you have a desktop and a laptop. When you register the computer to a serial it locks that serial out from being registered on more than 2 different computers. You have to deactivate a license to move Zbrush onto a different computer, which can be done in Zbrush or by contacting technical support. It’s also important to note that MAC and PC licenses are separate, meaning if you have a MAC and PC you’ll have to get 2 separate licenses. A MAC serial won’t work on PC and vice-versa.
