I was reviewing the quicklinks stuff on scripting…I have never added text boxes during a script…are these added during the modeling session or added after the script is recorded…I normally scribbble a note with the brush as I am painting or whatever…but I would like to do one the proper way. Any help would be appreciated.
thnx
Ron
Hi Ron,
First open the ZScript palette and click the option to Export Commands. This will create a text file in your ZScripts folder that contains all of the ZScript commands, followed by their parameters.
The one that you want is the Note command.
Hi Ron,
Last night I was looking over my ZBrush notebook (clips from various ZBCentral posts) and found this tip from Pixolator.
I don’t remember exactly where his original post was so I hope he doesn’t mind if I just re-post it here.
CLIPPED FROM A PREVIOUS POST BY PIXOLATOR:
"It is possible to interactively insert notes into a recorded ZScript by following these (previously undocumented) steps…
- Load the ZScript that you wish to annotate in ZBrush.
- Begin ZScript recording.
- Optional step: Set the ZScript Replay Delay value to about 500 in order to slow down the replay speed.
- Press ‘Play’ to begin a replay of your ZScript.
- While your ZScript is replaying and being rerecorded, you may insert notes to the recorded ZScript by pressing the CTRL+SPACEBAR keys. This will pause the script and display a text-entry dialog box. Type the text and press OK ( repeat as needed). When done, press the CANCEL button in order to dismiss the dialog box and resume recording. Repeat step 5 as needed.
- When done annotating the script, Press the ZScript End Rec to terminate the recording and save the new annotated ZScript.
You may now test your ZScript and - if needed - open the ZScript in a text editor and modify the inserted notes.
Hope this helps

I also hope this helps, Sven
EDIT: Ron, I found the link and it is worth reading the whole thread. I tried the technique briefly with mixed results… I’ll be interested if the procedure works for you. Sven
Hi Ron
I never make that but I believe that you must use the menu Movie for add text, diagramm shema transition, box help etc for your recording script .
Pure supposition of my part but it’s that write when I move my mouse over with Ctrl pressed
Hope this help!
Pilou
Edit : Never leave a post unfinished and then go to the bog and return without checking if someone already posted. Do what Svengali said Ron
Or you can click a button such as Stencil On twice while recording. End the recording as usual and go through the text file looking for [IPress,Stencil:Stencil On]
[IUnPress,Stencil:Stencil On] and replace it with the [Note,…] command. Not as easy as Pixolators tip but more precise in the placement of the notes(I guess).
I go to eat some chicken and come back and all my smart friends come out of the woodworks with wonderful solutions. Thank you all for such quick responses. I will use this information tonight hopefully in creating a non redneck annotated zscript Thanks for the help, it is appreciated.
