Question: Making models taller

Hi,

I posted this a little earlier but on the wrong forum, i guess thats why it didnt come online.

I have a torso model that i am trying to make taller. The torso looks like a

T

With the outstretched arms.

So I am trying to make the length between the belly button to the ribcage longer, however, when i pull with the transpose move tool, the arms’ width also increases.
This is kind of what i want :
T

This is what i get: …notice the width of the arms got exaggerated as well
T

Now i tried to mask the arms out, but what happens is then it does not move upwards, and distort the whole model.

Is there a way to lock the size of the arms but still make it move up? or am i supposed to be using a different tool completely?

Use transpose -> move. Mask what you don’t want to change and blur a bit that mask a bit (Masking -> blur mask button, and hit it a couple times.) Draw out a transpose line in the direction you want to stretch and instead of grabbing the middle bubble, grab the center of the end bubble nearest the direction you want to strech. You now have “Stretch Armstrong” to play with, with the masked areas pinned.
