Question about measurements of mesh to 3D print.

I have been contacted about making some life size helmets for a collector and have a few questions regarding the size of meshes and 3D printing. Does it matter if the mesh is scaled precisely before being sculpted on or does the only time measurements would matter would be during the exporting of the mesh as stl? The clients head is about 23.5 inchs.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I have a friend who owns 3Ds max so I will be able to get the measurements scaled correctly. I guess my question is does the mesh need to be scaled accurately within the program or just at export of the 3d print file?

Is the collector also the friend? I understand what the video showed and your question. At some point in time there will be the issue of ‘units’… As long as it’s correctly set in the 3D PrintExporter, before export, you should be ok.

No the collector contacted me through my FB page. Could I just make the model and when it comes time to export using the 3d print options could I just type in the measurements there?

I’m gonna say yes.
That’s the way I’ve done it in the past, and it’s worked for me.
You should be able to open your .stl in another program (like Netfabb) after export to double check.

Ok, thank you Thor.
