question about fiber brush and hair...?

hi all!

a question in regards to using the fiber brush and appying hair material:
when drawing this on, how do i turn the head around to paint hair onto the sides and back???

sorry if this is a stupid question but i’m a nOOb.
thanks!

The fiber brush is not designed to be used in this manner. It does not add geometry to the model. Rather, it is a purely pixol-based effect for illustration purposes. In other words, it operates on the canvas level; not the model level.

For something that can be applied to the model, use the Fibers material instead. There are some sample versions in the ZMaterials folder which you can modify to create the effect that you want. Use Projection Master to paint this material onto your model. You can apply different versions of the material to different parts of your model to create more realistic results.

Note that this material effect will not be visible until you do a Best render with Render>Fibers turned on. Also, when editing your material the fibers modifiers MUST remain in the S1 channel. They will not work if they are in any other channel.

thanks for replying aurick.

if i use the materials fiber is it actually adding something to the mesh?
the reason why i ask is that i’m using this in conjunction with poser, i am really trying to add hair/polys/pixols to the mesh so when i import to poser it is there.

thanks!

There’s no way to do that within ZBrush. Only a very few hair programs can output that hair as polygons so that it can be imported into other apps. Even for them, though, the result is that those models have HUGE polygon counts that Poser would choke on.

You are always better using the hair solutions that come with the program that you’re rendering in, as those create the hair at render time and are optimized for that engine.

all right,
thanks for your help.
