Question about alpha masking position problem

Hi guys,I have little problem right now,I have an object cylinder,I have intricate alpha,I want that alpha perfectly centered in middle of object,so that when O extract that alpha shape from object as subtool, when I press symmetry it is perfectly symmetrical shape on both axis.

So question is,how can I position and draw alpha mask with rectangle stroke mode, but to be perfectly centered on object?

Thanks guys in advance!

And sorry for my english

maybe uv the object and load the alpha as texture and then use alpha from intensity, should give you lots more control

Thank you,but is there some more easy way? automate way?

There is plenty of way to make a symmetry work in ZBrush.

One of the possible reason that you are not in symmetry is that you move your tool somehow. If this is the case you will find in the TOOL menu under Geometry then position 3 cursors look there to put you symmetry axis to 0.

Another solution is simply to activate a temporary pivot point and then do your action… For that go to TRANSFORM menu you will see there an S.PIVOT icon click on it. You cylinder will be in the center of the zbrush references for the 3 axis.

Another solution is to activate the L.Sym button in the TRANSFORM menu or at the right part of the zbrush interface (depending on the interface you using, it will be always on the transform menu).

Hope it is of some help.

Thank you,but that is for object symmetry which is working for me
BUT what I need is to “Precise” position my alpha,to be perfectly centered on object, and after that when I press “symmetry” its perfectly symmetrical,Hope you guys understand what I mean.
Any help appreciated!

Thanks

use Zapplink and line it up in photoshop…

Thanks a lot
hmm thats sounds good technique, but atfer I position it in PS with zapplink, how can I have it as alpha mask and not texture when I get back to zbrush?

Ok here we go… first the bad news… Is going to be very hard… NO JUST KIDDING!

Paint in black in Photoshop and once you back in Zbrush go to TOOL menu then MASKING …masking by color and click mask by intensity. Job done.
You can get rid of the polypainting is useless now.

Tell me if is ok?
